Mission Statement The Union Springs Central School District is an organized body (composed of students, parents, staff, and community members) that nurtures all learning and recognizes individual differences in a challenging environment. ALL MEMBERS positively and respectfully encourage one another to succeed, inspiring pride in accomplishments. With everyone ultimately responsible for his or her life-long learning and behavior, the pursuit of excellence is our mission.
USCSD is Literacy Focused
The Union Springs Central School District is focused on literacy. Between September 2006 and June 2008, two Literacy Self-Studies were completed to evaluate K-6 and 7-12 programs. Two different teams of teachers selected and collected data, analyzed data, and made recommendations that are being carried out through implementation plans. During the 2008-09 academic year, the district's initiative towards creating a literacy-enriched learning environment continues through the work of a Literacy Professional Learning Community (PLC). This K-12 committee is made up of students, staff members, and administrators as well as Board of Education and community representatives. The group is divided into four subcommittees: K-12 Connections, Utilizing Technology, Motivating Students to Read, and Early Literacy.
