Princess Sammy Seek and Find

Princess Sammy is a hamster in Mrs. Karcz’s third grade classroom. Sammy’s disappearance one night inspired the students to write and illustrate stories about her adventures. Sammy was eventually found, but then vanished again for another journey. She is safely back home again now, but has inspired a school wide seek and find. Chef Harold from Lewis’ Restaurant made French toast for the students while Mrs. Brandstetter talked about running a restaurant. Dairy Princess Visits Cayuga

Cayuga County Dairy Princess, Carrie Buck, visited with Cayuga Elementary second graders. Carrie helped the students to make the connection between agricultural production and the daily consumption of food and fiber products. The Merry-Go-Round Theater performed Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs for all of the Cayuga Elementary School students. The students loved the fantastic costumes and the hilarious antics of the Merry-Go-Round actors. We're so glad they could come!

Literacy Event

On March 19th all Union Springs students participated in a district wide literacy event. The students all met at the high school where they were partnered so that younger and older students could read together. After reading, the Cayuga and AJ Smith staff had a basketball game.
