8th Grade Science and Living Environment
Welcome to 8th Grade Science. This year you will be studying the topics that follow: the Atmosphere, Weather, Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Rocks and Minerals, Electricity, Motion and Genetics. We will also be trying some Geospatial Technology labs that involve reading data on computerized maps. Two NYS exams are given in the area of science in the 8th grade: a laboratory performance assessment on Thursday, May 31, 2012 and a written assessment on Monday, June 4, 2012. We have a lot to do, but I promise to make it as fun as possible!! This webpage is also available to the high school students enrolled in Living Environment. We will be using Geospatial Technologies to study the biodiversity of organisms around the world. Your research will involve working with NOAA scientists to track satellite tagged animals that are endangered. We will also be studying cells, ecosystems and genetics.
