There are two traditional third grade classes this year. Mrs. Cuthbert and Mrs. Hares are the teachers. Mrs. Kilmer is our teacher assistant. We are fortunate to have small class size and support staff so that we can meet individual needs. Our schedule is very busy. You will find the children working diligently from 9:00-3:30. Our special time is at 1:40-2:20 each day. On one day the students have a double special. We assign homework nightly during the week and expect students to develop independence to accomplish the work with quality. On Fridays the students write a journal letter to their parents to tell about what has happened during their week at school. We ask parents to respond to their child by writing back to them in the journal. At this age we feel students should also be reading and practicing math every day. There are many ways to make this a fun and family oriented activity. They could take turns reading aloud with an adult, reading and following a recipe, and reading maps, newspapers, or magazines together. Let your child help with math skills like counting change, measuring for a project, or playing a game like Yahtzee that uses math skills. Visit our sight to keep up with events on a monthly basis.
